Palm oil

Most of the palm oil used by Fazer is in vegetable oil mixtures. Pure palm oil is used only in minor amounts.

We use palm oil based fats in white bread and sweet bakery product dough, as spread, in cooking and baking, in the filling of certain chocolate bars and chocolate confections and in toffee.

Fazer Group is aware that environmental problems are connected to the production of palm oil. To support the sustainable production of palm oil, Fazer has made a decision to begin to use only RSPO certified palm oil by the end of 2012. The transfer will be gradually implemented, and a prerequisite for this is the availability of certified palm oil.

Fazer Group will also become a member of the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Fazer Confectionery has been a member since 2005.
